Face synchronous tapping cycle

Machine-specific. This G-code reference is specific to the Mazak INTEGREX e-670H / e-670H-S with the MAZATROL SmoothX control (EIA/ISO programming manual H747PB0030E). G-code availability depends on fitted options, and groups and behaviour differ between Mazak models and control generations — verify against the manual for your own machine before programming with any code.
What it does

 The tapping operation depends upon the setting in bit 3 of parameter F155 as well as upon whether or not and how the arguments Q and I are specified, as shown below. F155 bit 3 = 1 F155 bit 3 = 0 Tapping cycle H.S. deep-hole Deep-hole H.S. deep-hole Deep-hole tapping cycle tapping cycle tapping cycle tapping cycle  The spindle is reversed at the hole bottom to perform tapping cycle. During tapping cycle operation by G284.2 (G288.2), feed rate override is ignored. Even if feed hold is applied, the cycle does not stop until the end of return operation.  Tapping cycle and reverse tapping cycle can be performed by specifying spindle normal or reverse rotation with M-codes (M03, M04). Output to the machine side is as follows:  As for synchronous tapping on the face (G284.2), the combination of the direction of the Z-axis movement (in the workpiece coordinate system) and that of the spindle rotation determines the type of tapping: normal or reverse. Type of tapping direction (in the workpiece direction of spindle  When G284. […]

G284.2 is modal (group 09) — it stays in effect until another code of the same group replaces it.
