Variable lead thread cutting
Machine-specific. This G-code reference is specific to the Mazak INTEGREX e-670H / e-670H-S with the MAZATROL SmoothX control (EIA/ISO programming manual H747PB0030E). G-code availability depends on fitted options, and groups and behaviour differ between Mazak models and control generations — verify against the manual for your own machine before programming with any code.
What it does
Variable lead threading is possible by commanding the increase or decrease of a lead per screw rotation. The G01.1 command in the milling mode enables a simultaneous interpolation on the C-axis and the X- and/or the Z-axis for straight, tapered or scrolled thread cutting of constant leads.
G34 is modal (group 01) — it stays in effect until another code of the same group replaces it.
Programming format
G34 Xx Zz Ff/Ee Kk; It is the same as the case of straight and taper threading of G32 except an address K. A value commanded with K gives the increase or decrease of a lead per screw rotation. Values which K can take are as follows:
Address words
- Metric input: ±0.00001 to ±999.9999 mm/rev
- Inch input: ±0.000001 to ±99.99999 in/rev
- Refer to Subsections 6-15-1 and -2 for details of the other arguments.
- 3. Notes
- 1. As a result of the increase or decrease of a lead, when exceeding the range of the
- command value of screw lead or when cutting feed gets excessively high, the rate of feed is
- limited to the rate of rapid traverse.
- 2. “Feed hold during threading” function is invalid for G34.
